How it all started
Erin and Austin were two musical friends who played together at their church- both sharing a passion for music and obscure music nostalgia. The idea to put a band together was thrown out a few times as a "wouldn't it be nice..." sort of thing, until one day Austin played too many familiar guitar riffs in a row, and they decided it was time to get to work and make their vision for a band a reality.
Founded in 2024... by the Germans. Kidding. The Rewind Project was born. Our mission is to deliver top quality music performances for all events and sizes, while continuously growing our catalog of songs that bring us joy to play.
Erin
Erin’s unique brand of energy (ahem… craziness) took root in West Des Moines in 2022, but her story begins in Buffalo, NY, where she was born and raised. Coming from a long line of musicians, Erin has been singing for as long as she can remember, first finding her voice at family gatherings surrounded by her amazing cousins that cheered her on.
Her formal training began in school and church choirs, where she developed both her vocal technique and her love for conveying emotion through music. That passion deepened over more than 20 years as a church cantor, where she honed her ability to connect through music on a deeper level.
Erin’s stage presence was forged during her decade-long run as the lead vocalist for Triple Threat, a high-energy party rock band that brought her to stages across Western New York.
Now, with The Rewind Project, she’s channeling all those years of experience into something fresh and full of heart, with a mission to push creative boundaries.
Austin
Austin received his first guitar at 8 years old for Christmas and spent the next few weeks banging on it, having no idea how it worked, but feeling like a rock star nonetheless. Soon, he’d begin 8 years of lessons taught by a skilled rock guitarist. Over the years, he discovered the beauty and diversity of the acoustic guitar. That soon became his primary tool for the job.
Born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago, Austin played in various groups throughout the Midwest. He moved to the Des Moines area in 2012 for a career opportunity and quickly found it to be his forever home. There, he started regularly playing at church masses and events and became a founding member of a Praise and Worship group that continues to play today.
With his musical voice being an acoustic guitar, Austin focuses on bringing out the most dynamic range and sonic texture he can to a song. Austin has a musical mindset of listening to the song’s unsaid needs and fulfilling them. Constantly challenging his own abilities as a musician and a forever student, he is always practicing new styles, voicings, and techniques to get the most mileage out of his instrument.
With The Rewind Project being an acoustic duo, Austin and Erin are so excited to bring their unique musical backgrounds to a live setting—entertaining, reimagining, and rewinding musical memories.
